Lamphu 1 is the old-guard seafood house on the Tapi at Bang Kung, Surat Thani. Grab a waterside table and order fresh oysters, steamed crab and grilled river prawns with our sharp seafood dip.

On our page we describe ourselves as the original Lamphu 1 seafood restaurant ("Chao Kao", the old one), at 23 Moo 3, Pak Nam Road, Bang Kung, near the mouth of the Tapi River.
The dining room is an open, high-roofed hall that runs out to a deck over the river, so you eat with boats and the far bank in view.
Seafood leads the menu: raw oysters, blanched cockles, steamed crab, grilled river prawns and fried fish, plus southern sour curry and salads such as pak kut fern and horseshoe-crab roe. Lamphu 2 and Lamphu 3 are our sister restaurants, and Lamphu 2 has been written up in Matichon.
